And it's that I can't stop buying vintage clothes!
Last month it was mugs. This month I keep bringing home piles and piles and piles of clothing. The problem is I'm not so good at listing clothing. I do have a dress form but I get nervous about measurements and if I am taking them correctly...so I keep putting it off.

boxes of clothes I don't know how to list |
I brought home the above boxes today. They are filled with shoes, shirts, clutches and mu-mu's. I have NO idea why I keep buying mu-mu's- but something about the fabric choices used sing to me. sigh.

Hey look another pile! |
This is the pile I brought home last weekend. It's mostly mens flannels, with a 1960s Snoopy T-shirt on top.

A dirty secret inside another dirty secret... |
And that there is a trunk filled with, you guessed it: clothes. It's also covered in most of my shipping supplies surrounded by other items I NEED to list. If you were to pan out and see the entire room, well you'd probably call Hoarders for an emergency intervention. If you sell clothing and have any quick tips for me to get this stuff listed and out the door I would be oh so grateful!
Is there a genre of vintage that you keep buying?
Has it reached Hoarder status yet?
well, i am a sucker for pyrex and vintage chairs. glad someone elses thrifted space is as packed as mine:) i need to list!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a pretty bad pyrex problem. I am now on a pyrex restriction. Oh...and chairs, don't even get me started. I want them ALL!
DeleteOh, me too. Me too! My obsession with chairs is so bad that one day a friend sent me a link to this listing on Etsy and said "this reminds me of you." Chair problem not under control.

Amber I love that print- thanks so much for sharing :)
DeleteI have the same issue with vintage clothing. I'm up to ~4 dresses, one stetson, 4 pairs of shoes, 2 graduation robes and 4 PHD hoods. at least you're one up on me and have a dress form-I need to buy/thrift/borrow one so I photograph for etsy!
ReplyDeleteFor shirts/dresses measure shoulder to shoulder, then shoulder to cuff. Then shoulder to hem. The chest measurement is taken from armpit to armpit. For pants/jeans measure the waist, the rise, & the inseam.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips Deana! I guess its time to get on that horse :)
DeleteDeana is right on with the measureing. I usually take a few hours and do them in a batch. Get a stack of clothes and get them on the dressform, or if you don't have a form hang them on a hanger on a nice blank wall. This is a good time to check them over for rips/tears/stains. After you take a bunch of photos then get a notebook and start measuring, as well as listing any defects and labels/care instructions. Then take your camera down to the computer, fix all the photos and start listing. It's a process but you get faster at it the more you do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think you are spot on about the listing in bulk strategy. I just washed everything (to get out the, i've been sitting in someones closet for 40 years, smell) and hope to get some photos taken in the next day or so.
DeleteAlso can I say I'm salivating just looking at that big floral print bag in the last photo? List it!! ;)
