First, this amazing 1930s globe. I scored this 9 inch Cram Terrestrial globe at a thrift store which is in walking distance of the new house. I'll be keeping this beauty for now to add to my own personal collection.

I paid $100.00 for the Midwinter Stonehenge Sun Dish set below- and I'm ok with that because we plan on keeping most of it for our own personal dishes. After setting aside a few of the cracked pieces the set came with 20 large dinner plates and the rest is a service for 8-10. It includes dinner plates, salad plates, bread plates, soup bowls, cereal bowls, mugs, saucers, plates for the soup bowls, a large serving platter, a covered casserole dish, a creamer and sugar bowl and 6 small shot glasses or sake cups. I'm hoping to sell about half of the dinner plates to help cover the cost of the set - wouldn't that be nice.
I practically threw myself on top of this horse when I found him yesterday. I'll be saving this for our little boy to love and enjoy.
And finally, I believe I have found and brought home all the wicker baskets. All of them. The ones I don't fill with plants or toys I will be selling.

I love your Midwinter Stonehenge Sun collection. I have a few pieces myself--but not the unique creamer and sugar bowl. So cool.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the creamer and sugar bowl too, now I need to find the salt and pepper shaker, they have that same great look.
DeleteI, too, have some of the Midwinter Stonehenge Sun that I use for everyday. Just an fyi: some pieces say they are dishwasher safe but I washed a few in the dishwasher and have noticed that they are starting to craze a little so they are now getting hand washed. I would love to find the soup bowls - they are hard to find at a good price.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip about the dishwasher! My husband takes the lead on dishes so I'll be sure to share this with him. He's going to be thrilled :)
DeleteAmazing score on the huge Midwinter set! I've never seen the covered casserole dish - impressive! Oh and congrats on the new house. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. I really love this set. It makes me almost want to host Thanksgiving. Almost.
DeleteGreat buys, especially the tea set.
ReplyDeleteI loved those Midwinter dishes when they first came out (and that was likely the 70's or very early 80's. I had a brown banded set which I just loved. They wear very well. Yours are so very cheerful. I am following as well as putting your blog on my blog lists too.

I have never seen those dishes before. They are amazing & the colors are absolutely perfect for Fall! Fingers crossed you sell enough that the ones you kept are free!

what a beautiful dinner set! love the sweet little rocking horse too!
ReplyDeleteLove it aaaall! :D One of my biggest sales was the stonehenge set in blue, I absolutely loved using those pieces until they sold, they are so gorgeous. Love the storage baskets and globe too, I'm on the prowl for those.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to Midwinter! I ended up getting my set for a similar price from a local dealer but then I sold the casserole that I never ended up using and made most of my money back!
